Man Shot Chasing his Stolen Truck

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department, South District, are investigating a shooting incident that left one wounded.

According to investigators, on Dec. 27th at 7 pm, Delvys Garcia Rodriguez and his wife Yoleyvis Lopez, both 44, arrived at their home located on SW 166th Street from shopping at a local store.

When they began to unload their Dodge Ram pickup truck, a male entered the vehicle and stole the truck driving away. The husband and wife entered their other vehicle (Honda), and followed the stolen truck while calling the police. As the couple gave chase they felt as if rocks were striking their Honda. They eventually lost sight of their pick-up truck and returned home. It was then that they realized their Honda had several bullet holes and that Rodriguez was shot. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported Mr. Rodriguez to Jackson South Hospital in stable condition.

A short time after the shooting, detectives recovered the stolen pick-up truck abandoned in the area of Homestead Avenue and SW 173 Street.
