Holiday Fun in Losner Park

The beautifully decorated tree in Losner Park is up, waiting for the moment when the dazzling lights will be switched on and the annual Homestead Main Street Festival will be bigger than ever. The free, family-friendly event is Saturday, December 2, 2017, 5:00-9:00 p.m.

A variety of entertainment on Losner stage includes the Homestead-Miami Mariachi Conservatory, the

First Baptist Church Children's Choir, the Huney Shine Dance Studio, the Laura Saunders Children's Choir and Expressions Dance Company.

A new addition to the line-up is participants from the YMCA’s Jingle Bell Run will start their 5K Run/Walk at the Harris Park YMCA at 5:30 p.m. and end their route in Losner Park.

Mayor Porter of Homestead will make a few remarks leading up to the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Ooohs and aaahs will be heard, but then the excitement of Santa and Mrs. Claus being escorted up Krome Avenue by specially trained horses will take over. As with each year, Santa and Mrs. Claus will meet and greet children in front of the Historic Town Hall Museum following the parade. Although the line will be long, each child will have a turn. The evening will extend into the outdoor showing of two animated films; “Mickey's Christmas Carol” and “O' Christmas Tree”.

Enticing aromas are also part of the festivities where vendors in the park have tasty dishes from the Caribbean, good old-fashioned BBQ, mini pizzas, and other items for purchase.
